Posted in Uncategorized at 9:17 am by alohaprintandcopy

While no one wants to be stuck in a rut, we all tend to find ourselves there in one way or another. No matter what we do, we are stuck and unable to get past that point.

But in following our daily routine, we tend to be blinded to new ideas or opportunities. Whether in our personal or professional lives, we ultimately lose in the end and life passes us by. Creative people have breakthroughs by continually looking for different ways to do new and exciting things. Whatever it is, challenge yourself to change one thing a day.

Below are a few rut-busting activities to apply to your everyday life:

• Speak to someone new. Every day, get out and meet people you have never spoken to before. Add them to your friend/networking list. Check out the community calendar in your locate paper.
• Rearrange your work area. It helps break the monotony and forces change.
• Change your schedule around. Do those things you leave for last first.
• Drive a different route to work in the morning. Considerate it a mini-adventure and discover new places to see.
• Be active. Sign up for an activity such as yoga, something you have never done before. It will help reduce the stress in your life. Or just get out and walk. Lunchtime walks re-energize you to be more creative.
• Use your left hand if you’re right-handed (or right if you’re left-handed) for one day.
• Read a book on a subject you know nothing about. Or listen to motivational cds in your car on the way to work.
• Eat lunch in a different place with a different person. Be adventurous and order something you have never eaten before.

Why Recycle Paper?

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:37 pm by alohaprintandcopy

Did you know…
• For every ton of paper (about 2,000 pounds) that is recycled, 17 trees would be saved.
• The same 17 trees saved by recycling can absorb 250 pounds of carbon dioxide from the air each year.
• Forests are being cut at an astonishing rate of 100 acres per minute.
• It takes a minimum of 15 to 20 years for a plant to grow into a tree, but less than 10 minutes for the tree to be felled.
• Recycling 14 trees worth of paper reduces air pollutants by 165,142 tons.
• On average, Americans use approximately 650 pounds of paper each year of which 100 million tons of wood could be saved if all that paper was recycled.
• An average of 700 paper grocery bags are produced from 1 tree. It takes less than an hour for a supermarket to consume 700 paper bags.
• If we recycled all our newspapers, we could save about 250 million trees a year. And if we recycled just one-tenth of the newspapers, 25 million trees could be saved.
• Every day American businesses generate enough paper to circle the earth 20 times.

What can you do?
Recycling paper is not enough. Efforts of the whole world are needed to make a difference in our landfills and resources. Practice the 4 Rs of recycling: Reduce the amount of waste you create, Reuse items whenever possible, Recycle to extend our natural resources and be a Responsible consumer by looking for and choosing products made with recycled materials.

Aloha Print & Copy is a strong supporters of recycling. Not only do we believe in it, we live it by recycling all paper waste through local programs. We offer an elegant line of post-consumer paper. Our customers are invited to stop by and use our a shredder – FREE. Ask us about our ideas on how to reuse old stationary or other paper products without throwing it away.

A couple random recycling of interest:

Did you know, the Hershey Company in the US produces about 20,000,000 kisses each day using 133 square miles of aluminum to wrap them in; this material is recyclable and most of it ends up in the trash rather than the recycle bin.

The highest point in Ohio is Mount Rumpke which at over 1000 feet is literally a mountain of trash and is located in the Rumpke landfill.
